Reason for joining the directory
I'm committed to providing safe, affirming care for LGBTQ+ patients. The history of mental health care has too often been harmful to this community, and in West Michigan many still face daily microaggressions and subtle messages that they don't fully belong. I want my practice to be a place where people can land safely and receive care without fear of judgment or harm. My goal is to make therapy a place of belonging and safety where people are fully seen, respected, and supported without fear of judgement or harm.

My clinical training emphasized culturally responsive and affirming care, and I have pursued additional learning to better serve LGBTQ+ clients. In my doctoral program I received training in sexual orientation and gender identity development, and the impact of systemic oppression on mental health. Since then, I have worked extensively with LGBTQ+ youth and adults, including those navigating non-affirming families and faith communities. I have created and delivered a lecture series on LGBTQ+ mental health for psychiatry residents and child & adolescent psychiatry fellows, integrating topics such as identity development, minority stress theory, and affirming clinical practices.
