Reason for joining the directory
When I was in undergrad, I started to see a therapist as a result of an abusive relationship. During our conversations, I disclosed I was questioning my attraction to women as more than friendly, and I was coming to the realization that I'm bisexual. Without hesitation she informed me that, in her "professional opinion," bisexuality didn't exist, rather it was more likely that I was confused. That interaction stuck with me and is part of what propelled me into becoming a counselor. No one should ever seek help with a professional and leave feeling more confused around their identity. I aim to provide safe and affirming services primarily to marginalized communities with the hope of advancing the level of care these communities receive.
