Reason for joining the directory
I was made aware of the Consortium through the owner of our company. My client's encounter discrimination daily and after supporting them through some horrific experiences of discrimination in the healthcare setting, we felt the need to create a go-to list of LGBTQIA+ affirming providers (and many other services) to have safe spot to direct these client's to for high-quality care. I think Heartstone works very hard at providing a safe space like this in the therapeutic setting and I want to play an active role in this within our community. Additionally, as a member of this community, this mission means a lot to me personally.

I have worked with, and currently work with/serve the LGBTQIA+ community at Heartstone Guidance Center. A cornerstone of our practice is providing LGBTQIA+ affirming care and advocating for clients who deal with discrimination and trauma as a result of their identity. This involves not only supporting and affirming clients and other LGBTQIA+ staff members, but locating and coordinating PROPER care for our community. I specifically enjoy working with transgender and Bi-sexual clients as many of my loved ones are transgender and/or part of the community in some way. I would be very interested in receiving more formalized training if/when offered, especially for the transgender population.
